A couple stranded in India with their newborn surrogate twins because of the continuing delays at the UK Passport Office.

Kiran and Bina Salvi say they've waited eight weeks for passports as the service admitted almost half a million people's applications are still being processed.

The twin babies have aready been awarded UK citizenship.

But the Government's closure of overseas offices has seen a backlog at British centres like Liverpool.

An MP is calling for action over passport delays which have left a couple from Bolton stranded in India with their newborn surrogate twins.

Julie Hilling the MP for Bolton West has raised the plight of Kiran and Bina Salvi who went to India three months ago to get their children.

The twins have been awarded British citizenship but they still have not received their passports.

Kiran and Bina Salvi from Bolton are stranded in India with their newborn surrogate twins as passport delays continue in Britain. The government is being urged to help the couple who travelled out three months ago to collect their children.

The babies have been awarded UK citizenship but the family say the couple have waited eight weeks for their passports to arrive so they can bring them home.
