Liverpool MP Luciana Berger has launched an attack on the city's poor mental health service. It's after figures revealed the group responsible, the CCG is reaching just 9 per cent of the population. The MP and Shadow Public Health Minister says she is ‘extremely troubled’ by how few people benefit from its mental health services.
‘If my constituents were aware of the extent of the problem and the poor outcomes we are seeing here in Liverpool, I suspect they would rightly wonder why you have extended the contract to the current provider on multiple occasions, and why, if you felt the need to invest a significant further sum, you did not put the contract out to tender at that point.’
Ms Berger adds: ‘The reality is that a significant proportion of my constituents and the wider population of Liverpool are having extremely difficult experiences in their lives as they struggle to cope with the effects of mental illness.
