Wallasey MP Angela Eagle, the most senior member of the shadow cabinet to join a mass mutiny, is being widely tipped to be chosen to take him on in a formal contest.

Speaking as she left her home this morning, she made no comment about the the speculation, simply stating she was going to get in her car and go to work.

Wythenshawe MP resigns from Labour shadow cabinet
