Police release CCTV of Chester man being attacked

Detectives investigating an assault on a man from Chester have released CCTV footage of the attack.

Alex Kosuth-Phillips was out in the Selly Oak area of Birmingham celebrating his 23rd birthday when he was punched.

The blow broke his jaw in two places and he couldn't eat solid food for three months.

He now has a metal plate holding the bones together.

It happened on February 25 last year. Police have released the footage in the hope of tracking down the attacker.

Detective Constable Louise Corcoran, from West Midlands Police, said: “This was a serious unprovoked assault which left an innocent man knocked out cold and requiring surgery.

“The offender walked into the shop and made an offensive comment to him before hitting him in the face.

“It’s had a lasting effect on the victim, who has been left physically and emotionally scarred by the assault.

“We need to catch the person responsible and ensure justice is done.”

Anyone with information should call Force CID 0345 113 5000 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
