Isle of Man TT: weekend's business can set islanders up for the year

This weekend sees the return of the Isle of Man TT and with good weather expected crowds are likely to flock to the island.

That means a big boost for Manx business - our reporter Daniel Hewitt's been finding out how much that means to people there.

£23m boost for NW businesses - Deputy PM

The government has announced a £23 million cash boost for businesses in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg says the money from the Regional Growth Fund. will be

shared between 7 businesses in the North West.

Nick Clegg said:'We’re seeing very encouraging signs that the British economy is on the road to recovery. Home-grown and British-based businesses are leading that charge for a stronger economy.'

Liverpool One: Shopper numbers up 18% on last year

Liverpool One shopping centre says visitor numbers to the Boxing Day sales are up 18% on last year.

It says 90% of its stores have sales on and car park spaces were full by noon.

"Early indications have shown a promising start to the post-Christmas sales which is expected to lead to a strong period of trade well into the first week of January. If trade continues to this level we should see a week as busy as the 7 days preceding Christmas.”
