Almost 18-months-ago Granada Reports was broadcasting from Mathew Street as Liverpool was coming to terms with the death of Cilla Black.

Her name of course will aways be linked with the Cavern, where she started out as a cloakroom attendant.

So as the club turned 60 today, a statute's been unveiled to her. Our cameras were the only ones allowed to follow its construction from the very beginning And Victoria Grimes joined the crowds for the unveiling:

A new statue of Cilla Black will be officially unveiled on Mathew Street as part of the celebrations.

The late star worked as a cloakroom girl before finding fame.

The bronze sculpture is being commissioned by her three sons, Robert, Ben and Jack, who are donating it to the city in memory of their mum.

Cilla Black has achieved her first ever official chart topping album in what her family have called a 'perfect' tribute. The album called 'The Very Best Of' went to No.1 the day after stars and family gathered in Liverpool for the 72 year old's funeral.

"We have all been touched by the public's outpouring of love for our mother this week, and now to give her a number one album today is absolutely perfect. Thank you!"
