A couple whose daughter was murdered by her ex-boyfriend have changed the way rape cases will be dealt with. They've been campaigning ever since Jane Clough was stabbed outside. Blackpool hospital where she worked. At the time her killer Jonathan Vass was on bail for raping her.
He was convicted of murder but never of rape. Now after huge pressure from Jane's parents the rules have changed so in future ape charges will now normally be prosecuted alongside murder charges. Our Political Correspondent Claire Ashforth reports:
The family of a nurse killed by her former partner have won a campaign to change legal guidance.
Jane Clough, from Lancashire was stabbed to death by Jonathan Vass while he was awaiting trial for raping her. He has never faced the sexual assault charges.
