Giant sculptural sunflowers herald the start of Dig the City in Manchester

Manchester has become a green haven today as the city's first urban gardening festival kicks off.
Dig the City has transformed parts of central Manchester with hundreds of trees, flowers and plants. Shoppers in Exchange Square were greeted by mini gardens. The nine day festival is expected to attract thousands of green fingered visitors.
