Etihad Stadium has been named as one of UK’s iconic structures. Men and women who worked on the construction of the Manchester City ground are being sought by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) in order to honour and recognise them.
The five iconic buildings chosen by the CITB are:
• The Etihad Stadium, Manchester
• 30 St. Mary Axe, London, better known as The Gherkin
• The Library of Birmingham
• The Leeds First Direct Arena
• Sage Gateshead
Mick Hamill, CITB for the North of England, said, “We are looking for anyone involved on the construction of the Etihad Stadium in some capacity. Whatever your contribution was to the stadium’s construction, we want to hear from you.
We hope that many of the people who worked on the stadium will take the opportunity to come forward and make themselves known to us so that they receive the recognition they deserve.
Manchester City's Etihad Stadium has been selected to host the only England match outside Twickenham during the 2015 Rugby Union World Cup.
The Etihad is the only North West venue chosen for the tournament.
World Cup winner Will Greenwood joined local school children for the announcement.
