A charity is calling on people in the North West to open up their homes to children who need foster families.
The Fostering Network say the shortfall of people prepared to foster in our region is the biggest in the country and thousands of youngsters are in desperate need of a stable environment to grow up in.

AT LEAST 1,200 new foster families are needed in the north west to provide stable, secure and loving homes for record numbers of children, according to figures from the Fostering Network.** **
Tonight, over 8,600 children will be living with foster families across the north west. **
A charity is calling on people in the North West to see if they have room in their hearts and their homes for children who need foster families.
According to the Fostering Network, more than 11,000 children living with foster families in the region, which is a record number.
Cllr Graham Wright, Knowsley Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services said: "The reason we need more foster parents is so that we can expand the kind of offer we have."
He added: "If we had more foster parents we'd be in a better position to guarantee longer placements and not to interrupt placements.
