TV weatherman Fred Talbot appears at court charged with indecent assault

TV weatherman Fred Talbot has appeared at Manchester Magistrates court charged with indecent assault.

The charge relates to a 16 year old pupil at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys in 1982 where Mr Talbot taught.

Mr Talbot, from Bowdon, Greater Manchester, denies nine indecent assaults and a serious sexual assault.

He has been bailed until 23rd July when he will appear at Manchester Minshull Street.

TV weatherman Fred Tallbot has pleaded not guilty to nine counts of indecent assault and a sexual assault at Manchester Minshull Street Crown.

The former teacher from Bowdon, Cheshire, is alleged to have committed the offences between 1968 and 1983, against five male complainants, three of whom were under 16.

Police said previously that six counts of alleged indecent assault relate to incidents involving one victim who attended a school in Newcastle at the time, while the other alleged offences involve former pupils at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.

He will next appear in court on 27 May. A trial date has been provisionally set for 19 January, 2015.

The Granada presenter Fred Talbot has been released on bail after being questioned over allegations of historic sexual abuse at a school in Greater Manchester.

He was arrested today on suspicion of three counts of indecent assault and four counts of inciting a child to commit acts of gross indecency.

The offences relate to his time as a teacher at Altrincham Grammar School between the early 1970s and early 80s, while the four alleged victims were pupils.
