Consultation under way over future of Shire Hill Hospital in Glossop

A hospital in the the Derbyshire town of Glossop may be set to close.

Shire Hill Hospital provides beds for people coming out of hospital who still need care, or need to stay overnight to avoid hospital admission. But a consultation's underway which could see that Intermediate Care moved to neighbouring Tameside Hospital.

The local Clinical Commissioning Group says it will improve care and access to care.

Tim Scott's been talking to residents who disagree.

It's only been open a few weeks, but the Tyme Coffee Lounge in Glossop has managed to make national headlines.

It follows a posting on its social media that mothers of small children who are having tantrums while in the cafe 'should take them outside till they can behave.'

There was angry reaction from some mums, but also a renewed debate about what parents should do when their youngsters, well, 'kick off.'

Police appeal after sex attack on woman in Glossop

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted as she was walking home in Glossop.

The 18-year-old woman was walking in a church yard off Church Street, near the Duke of Norfolk school, when she was assaulted.

The victim suffered serious facial injuries in the incident, which took place at about 3am on Monday, May 26, and was later treated at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Detectives want to speak to a man who was seen on Church Street South shortly before 3am the same morning. He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and trainers.

Bus crashes into a parade of shops in Glossop.

One person was taken to hospital in the incident which happened on Victoria Street at around 6pm tonight.

The Fire Service is warning people to avoid the area.

Police release suicide note of teenager shot in US

The County Sheriff's Office has released several notes left by the teenagers accused of shooting dead a US police officer.

17 year old Alex Hollinghurst ,who's originally from Glossop told her mother ' I could write you for days, but I know nothing would actually make a difference to you."

Two other notes, one to Hollinghurst's father and sister were also found.

"I hope you never take a wrong turn like I did," Hollinghurst writes in a letter addressed to Hannah. "I hope you realize that you are ever so beautiful. I love you."

"I love you to death, but I just couldn't do it anymore. Every day became harder and harder," Hollinghurst says to her father.
