As the Mini and Junior Great Manchester Runs took place before the adult's run, huge crowds were already gathering in the city centre to spectate the annual event.
The Mini Great Manchester Run is 1.5km where as the Junior, for older children, is 2.5km.
The Great Manchester Run is underway today and before the start, there was a touching moment, as a minute's silence was held for the victims of the Manchester bomb attack.
The silence was for those killed at the Manchester Arena by a suicide bomb shortly after American artist Ariana Grande's concert.
40,000 runners are having a well earned rest tonight after competing in the Great Manchester Run.
Many of them taking part were raising cash for charities dear to their hearts.
The first runner to complete the 10k route did it in just over 28 minutes.
