Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has released a statement denying allegations that he spat at Papiss Cisse during last night's game against Newcastle United.
In a statement released on Manchester United's website he said:
Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse has issued a statement apologising for his part in the incident between him and Evans during the Premier League match at St James' Park.
Jonny Evans has signed a new contract at Manchester United which will keep him at the club until at least June 2016.
The Northern Irish defender, 24, has made 141 appearances for United, scoring four goals since his debut against Coventry City in the League Cup in September 2007.
