Tranmere Rovers have released a statment after sacking manager Ronnie Moore.

It reads:

"Tranmere Rovers Football Club have today terminated the employment of Ronnie Moore for being in breach of his contract.

Moore has admitted an FA charge regarding multiple breaches of Rule E8(b) for misconduct in relation to betting and requested a personal hearing.

Football Operations Director and Club Secretary Mick Horton said: 'Tranmere Rovers will not tolerate any action that damages the integrity of this Football Club.'Any staff members found to be guilty of misconduct will face severe action.'"

Preston North End sign former Bolton skipper Kevin Davies

Preston North End have signed former Bolton skipper Kevin Davies on a two-year deal.

The England international forward left Bolton Wanderers in the summer after ten seasons in which he played over 400 games for the Trotters.

He has been given the No.9 shirt and is available to play in North End's pre-season friendly against Liverpool on Saturday.

Barton leaves North End for Coventry

Adam Barton has left Preston North End for fellow League One side Coventry.

A product of North End's youth system, the 21-year-old played more than 50 times for the Deepdale Club.

Chairman Peter Risdale said:

Adam has gone to Coventry. That happened this morning.

At the moment that is the only definitive movement out of the club.”
