Watch: Southport becomes location for musical film set

A full length musical is being filmed on location right here in the North West.

The movie ''Perfectly Frank'' doesn't have a star-studded cast or a Hollywood-style budget. However, the makers of the film say Southport is the perfect place for their work, and they're hopeful it will become a box office hit in cinemas.

Fame celebrates turning 30 in Manchester

Long before shows like X Factor hit our screens there was a hugely popular show about young people who dreamt of stardom simply called Fame and it was set in New York.

Well the good news is Fame The Musical is now celebrating its 30th birthday and is opening it's latest run in Manchester starring some well known faces including the singer Mica Paris and the former Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter.

WATCH: Dusty Springfield story is turned into a musical

Dusty Springfield remains one of the most successful British female singers of all time - and now her story has been turned into a stage musical.

'Son of a Preacher Man' is currently playing in Manchester and includes many of her other hits too, like 'I only want to be with you' and 'You don't have to say you love me'.

Hundreds of hopefuls queue round the block for Cilla open auditions

Hundreds of hopefuls have queued up round the block for open auditions for Cilla the Musical at the Empire theatre in Liverpool.

The auditions are being held by producers from Bill Kenwright Ltd and Executive Producer of the new musical, Cilla's son, Robert Willis.

Girl's Aloud star Sarah Harding is starring in the new touring production of Ghost the musical which is in Manchester all this week. She is joined by Hollyoaks actor Andy Moss who plays the role immortalised on screen by Patrick Swayze.
