Appeal after mementos of baby found in makeshift campsite

This tin was found in an abandoned tent at Northenden Round.

A tin containing mementos of a baby has been found inside an abandoned tent at a park in Manchester.

Police say the keepsake tin could have sentimental value and they're hoping to reunite it with the owner.

Officers have searched the park, known locally as Northenden Round, and found no evidence to suggest anything untoward had occurred although concern has been expressed for the welfare of the owner.

“It is quite clear those who have been living in the tent have been doing so for some time although at the moment, we do not know whether one or more than one person have stayed there.

"We are concerned for their welfare and want to make sure they have not come to any harm.

“We have had a police presence on the park for a few days but they have not returned and we are eager to make sure they have not come to any harm. "I am keen to reunite the property with their rightful owner and ensure they are safe and well.”
