Sculptors hope to be chosen to create Pankhurst statue

A variety of artists are queuing up to create a statue of Emeline Pankhurst in Manchester - to ensure that the suffragette leader who was born in Moss Side continues to inspire for generations to come.

The statue will be the first public statue of a woman in the city for more than a century.

Today her great granddaughter Helen was in Manchester to meet sculptors who hope to get the job of making the statue, which will be unveiled in 2019.
