A man has been convicted of the manslaughter of an off-duty police officer in Greater Manchester.
PC Gareth Francis had been celebrating his birthday on a night out with friends in Stockport, when he was punched in the face.
He suffered fatal injuries after falling to the ground and hitting his head.
Westley Holland was convicted at Manchester Crown Court and will be sentenced later.
Three men arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of off-duty officer PC Gareth Francis have been bailed.
Police were called to a report of an assault on January 20th near to the Sir Robert Peel pub on Castle Street, Edgeley.
Emergency services attended the scene within minutes and discovered 28-year-old Gareth with a serious head injury.He was taken by ambulance to Stepping Hill Hospital but died a short time later.
A post mortem examination concluded Gareth died from a head injury following a single punch.
A 21-year-old man and 20-year-old man have been bailed until 5 March and 7 March 2013.
A third man who handed himself into police was bailed until 28 January 2013.
