Thousands of Santas took to the streets of Liverpool today for the 14th annual Santa Dash.

They were raising money for Claire House children's hospice and other charities too.

The event's regarded as the city's kick start to Christmas.

"More than 8,000 red, blue and mini Santas made it a fantastic event for 2017. From babes in arms to senior Santas in their 80s, it really is a wonderful spectacle and a brilliant day for all."

There may be nearly six months to go but Liverpool's already gearing up for this year's Santa dash. An appeal will be launched later for people to take part and try to beat Las Vegas for the world title.

The Santa dash is a 5K fun run that started in Liverpool in 2004 and has grown in popularity every year. The event is open to runners, joggers and walkers and everyone takes part in the Santa suit provided.
