Man dies in Liverpool flat fire

A man has died after a fire at a flat in Tuebrook in Liverpool.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was found unconscious in the flat in Rocky Lane in the early hours of Boxing Day morning.

He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are investigating the cause of the fire.

The scene has been cordoned off and enquiries are ongoing in the local area.

CCTV appeal after Liverpool newsagents robbery

Detectives in Liverpool North are appealing for information following a robbery at a newsagents in Tuebrook.

Two men entered the newsagents on Rocky Lane on November 18th at around 8.15pm.

One was armed with what was thought to be a white bannister spindle, while a second man stayed at the door of the shop, armed with what was thought to be a stick.

The shopkeeper was assaulted by one of the offenders, before they stole cash from the the til.

Detectives have released CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with enquiries and are appealing for anyone who recognised the man pictured in the stills, to get in contact.

The scene has been forensically examined and enquiries are on-going.
