Two people have died following a house fire on Merseyside.
Firefighters were called to a house in West Kirby in the early hours of this morning.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was taken to hospital where she later died.
Police say they are not treating the fire as suspicious.
Merseyside Police are attending sheltered housing on Lingdale Court, Lingdale Road, West Kirby, due to a large portion of the roof of a block of flats being blown off due to gale force winds.
Officers were called at 8.22pm following reports of concern for safety.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has advised that the building is unsafe and structural engineers from the local authority are assessing the extent of the damage.
Nine people from the flats have been evacuated and a cordon has been put in place.
Detectives investigating the murder of a man in West Kirby have released CCTV footage.
It shows a man entering Paton Close on Tuesday night and walking towards the victims house.
Mr Britton died from stab wounds inflicted after he answered a knock at his door.
