Torch action on Merseyside

Olympic gold medallist Chris Boardman will be carrying the Olympic torch when it reaches Merseyside later.

The cycling champion will be joined by former Spice Girl Mel C to carry the flame in Birkenhead.

Iraq veteran Craig Lundberg, who was blinded whilst serving in the country in 2007, will carry the flame on a special Mersey Ferry from Birkenhead to the Pier Head.

The torch then moves on to Crosby, where around 5,000 schoolchildren will be attempting a new world record by creating the biggest Olympic rings logo at Crosby beach.
