A power firm could tap into a new source of heat from an ancient thermal spring under Manchester. GT Energy plans to drill nearly two miles underground to extract hot water from the Cheshire Basin.
The geo-thermal energy would be use to heat thousands of Manchester homes. Experts say the multi-million pound project would cut fuel bills for 8,000 homes and businesses in the area.
