The former Rugby League player Steve Prescott MBE will canoe up the Bridgewater Canal today. He is due to arrive at Old Trafford mid-afternoon, in time for this evening's Super League Grand Final between Warrington and Leeds.
The canoe trip forms the final part of his 48-hour Race to the Grand Final endurance challenge. Steve, who has stomach cancer, is raising money for the Steve Prescott Foundation. He and 30 other participants have already cycled from Hull to Liverpool, swum the Mersey, and run to Runcorn.
