Sewage worker killed while replacing water pipe in Peel
A Water and Sewerage Authority worker has died after an accident in Peel this morning.
The worker, who has not been named, was killed whilst excavating to replace a water supply pipe.
The Chairman of the Authority, Mr Houghton MHK, the Vice Chairman, Bill Henderson MHK and the Chief Executive, Peter Winstanley visited the scene of the accident today.
– Chairman of the Authority, Mr Houghton MHK‘We cannot release the name of the worker at this time until the police have informed the next of kin, however it was a very tragic and unfortunate accident and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time’.
The Health and Safety Inspectorate Officers are on site carrying out a full investigation into the accident.
