A man's been injured after a stone was thrown through the window of a bus in Middleton in Greater Manchester.

At around 8.20pm on Friday 7 December 2012, the 163 bus was travelling on Wood Street, towards Langley when someone threw a stone at a lower deck window.

The window smashed and the stone hit a 39-year-old man on the side of the head, cutting his ear. The offender then ran off.

Damage caused by stone

Police Constable Andy Kindon from the Rochdale South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Fortunately the victim only suffered a cut to his ear but he still required hospital treatment and cannot understand why the stone was thrown.

“This was a reckless act that could have had fatal consequences. Unfortunately there was no description of the offender as everything happened so quickly, but I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw someone acting suspiciously in the area, to contact us.”
