The man that was swept into the sea at Blackpool just after midnight on New Year's Day has been named as 41-year-old Paul Morris from South Shore, Blackpool.
He previously lived in Barrow-in-Furness. Despite shoreline searches his body has not yet been recovered from the water.
The Duke of Cambridge has taken part in a search mission to rescue a man swept into the sea in gale-force winds at Blackpool.
Blackpool’s RNLI volunteers were called out shortly after midnight to reports of a man in the water at South Pier, Blackpool.
