Manchester City Council: improvements will make park a 'wonderful community asset'

Manchester City Council say the planned felling of trees in Alexandra Park in Whalley Range will make it one of the "finest parks in Manchester".

"The multi-million pound regeneration of Alexandra Park will make it one of the finest parks in Manchester's network and a wonderful community asset for Whalley Range, Moss Side and the rest of south Manchester.

"These plans are about making this historic park fit for the 21st Century so people feel safe and can get involved in a wide range of activies. As well as restoring some elements of the original design, this also means improving sightlines and making sure people feel safe within the park environment.

– Eamonn O'Rourke, head of communities and culture for Manchester City Council
