All inland areas could witness sleet and snow during the afternoon and first part of this evening but the worry is for higher ground, where 5-10cm is possible, especially hazardous for Trans Pennine areas.
'Slushy deposits' are expected at lower levels but this could still cause slippery conditions on untreated surfaces.
In addition the winds are strong and gusty, reaching gale force for the coast and over hills, causing blizzard conditions.
