Wirral Council has announced its budget recommendations, and begun to outline how it plans to save £106m before 2016.
One of the measures sees the council cut its ties with Tranmere Rovers.
A statement read:
"We will also not be renewing the Council’s sponsorship of Tranmere Rovers FC, however, we will continue to support the excellent work the Club does in both local schools and the wider community across Wirral."
