Police find shotgun in Merseyside garden

Police carrying out searches in Sparrowhall yesterday have recovered a shotgun.

The gun was recovered in a garden on Landford Avenue at about 5pm following searches in during the afternoon. It has been recovered for a forensic examination.

"This is one of a number of recoveries this week, with ammunition being recovered in Croxteth earlier in the day yesterday.

"The recovery means that there is now one fewer gun on the streets that can be used to harm or intimidate members of the community.

"We will continue to act on all information received to take guns and ammunition of the streets of Merseyside and put the people prepared to use them behind bars."
