A 100-metre cordon has been put up around a suspicious package found in a Rochdale shopping centre.
Police were called to the Point Retail Park in the town centre at about 12.45pm.
Greater Manchester Police say they are working with the fire service to safely recover the item.
As well as the cordon, some traffic is also being diverted in the area.
"We are at the early stages of thisincident and are working closely with the fire service.
"Highly trained officers are currently implementing well-drilled proceduresto safely recover this item."
