Muggers leave woman with head injuries

Muggers have left a woman with head injuries after she struggled to keep hold of her handbag.

It happened at about 9:10pm on Wednesday 20 March 2013 as the 24-year-old victim was walking alone down Kings Road, Oldham, towards the junction with Honeywell Lane.

She was approached by two youths who tried to snatch her handbag.

She clung onto her bag and a violent struggle broke out in which she was pushed to the floor.

She managed to keep hold of her bag and the would-be thieves ran off.

“The victim had the strength of character to fight off these two muggers, but she got a nastyhead injury as a result.

“Thankfully she has now had hospital treatment and is making a good recovery.

“I now want to hear from anyone who may have seen these youths hanging round the area of running off afterwards.”
