Man dies after being knocked down by cyclist

A man who was knocked down by a cyclist in Altrincham has died.

A 22-year-old cyclist hit an 81-year-old pedestrian at about 6.40pm on Monday 18th March on the pelican pedestrian crossing on the A56 Manchester Road, Broadheath, Altrincham, next to the junction of Devonshire Street.

The 81-year-old suffered serious head injuries and was initially treated at the scene by a passing doctor.

He was then taken to Salford Royal Hospital where he remained in a critical condition. He died on Saturday 23rd March.

The cyclist was not injured.
