Merseyside Police say a dog which killed the pensioner Clifford Clarke on Saturday was not a banned breed under the Dangerous Dog Act.
Tests found the dog was a bull mastiff crossed with either a presa canario or a bandog. It was shot dead by armed officers at the scene.
