An SAS sniper accused of illegally possessing a gun and ammunition is facing losing his family home as he struggles to fund a two-week retrial. Sgt Danny Nightingale said despite generous public donations, he and his wife are considering selling up.

Legal bills could cost former SAS sniper his home

The former SAS sniper from Cheshire who was jailed for illegally possessing a gun says he faces losing his home in the fight to clear his name.

Danny Nightingale, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, had his conviction quashed last November.

Now he says the legal costs of defending himself at his re-trial next month have spiralled out of control.
