Police are hunting masked men who attacked a police patrol car with paving slabs and baseball bats.
At around 12.35am this morning, Sunday 7 July 2013, officers on patrol on Windmill Lane, North Reddish, requested an Audi A6 to stop.
Four men wearing balaclavas got out of the stolen car and attacked the police vehicle with paving slabs and baseball bats, causing extensive damage.
They then got back into the car and drove off.
It was later found abandoned.
Inspector Matt Bailey-Smith of the Road Policing Unit said:
“Thankfully none of the officers were injured, but this once again demonstrates how our officers can face violence in even the most innocuous of situations.
“I now want to hear from anyone who saw this car speeding off from Windmill Lane or has any information.”
