Manchester scientist could get a one-way ticket to Mars

Manchester PHD student Danielle Potter is on a shortlist of applicants for a mission to put people on Mars.

Those chosen will never return to Earth. The 29 year old scientist says although that scares her she still wants to go.

A mission to put humans on Mars has whittled a list of 200,000 applicants down to 1,058 candidates who will now be tested to come up with a final list of 24 would-be Mars-dwellers.
