With clearing skies and easing winds overnight on Thursday temperatures will fall and surface temperatures will drop and hover around freezing, especially in rural areas into the early hours of Friday morning.
Large amounts of standing water remain on the ground in many places following recent wet weather and flooding, in addition to the scattered showers on Thursday. This will result in icy stretches forming, particularly on untreated surfaces.
Current warnings are for the south of the region (Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Greater Manchester, Halton, Warrington) but warnings could change.
