An investigation is underway following the death of an eleven month old baby in Blackburn.
At 11pm last night, police were called by the ambulance service to an address on Emily Street following reports a baby had been mauled by a dog.
The child was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital but died a short time later.
The dog has been destroyed.
Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries at the scene and investigate the circumstances of what has happened.
A 26 year old man and a 20 year old woman have both been arrested and are currently in police custody.
This is a tragic incident and specially trained officers are offering support to the wider family. A full investigation is underway.
