Police have labelled a masked raid at a nursing home as a "cowardly, outrageous attack".
More than 50 residents at Pendleton Court Nursing Home in Salford, Greater Manchester, as well as staff were left distraught after a gang of thieves burst in and stole cash and jewellery.
The offenders are described as white, aged between 20 and 30, with dark clothing.
One was said to be about 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in, of a stocky build and with big lips, possibly with his upper front teeth missing.
Detective Inspector Kenny Blain said:
"This is an outrageous attack on a nursing home that provides care to some of the most elderly, frail and vulnerable members of our community.
"I want to assure people living at the home, families who have loved ones here and the wider community that we will use whatever resources we have at our disposal to find these thieves."
