Two men have been arrested following an assault on the Super League rugby player Sean Gleeson in Wigan.

The Hull KR player was punched in the face a number of times after a row with three men outside the Ibiza Bar on King Street around 4am of Sunday 2 March.

Police have questioned two men, aged 21 and 24, on suspicion of assault and have bailed them until 28 April 2014 pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Peter Carletti from Wigan division, said: “While we have made two arrests we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to speak to police.

"You might not have seen the actual attack but you may have seen a group of white men running away. I would urge anyone who thinks they may know who is responsible to come forward and speak to us.”
