Coronation Street actress Barbara Knox - who plays Rita Tanner in the soap - has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
The 80-year-old was held at her local police station in Knutsford, Cheshire, on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The actress, who has played the newsagent in the programme for over 40 years, had gone to the station after her daughter, Maxine Ashcroft, 56, was earlier arrested for the same offence.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "An 80-year-old woman from Knutsford arrived at Knutsford police station and was also arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. She was bailed pending further inquiries."
A Coronation Street spokeswoman said the arrest was a personal matter.
