Home favourite Liam Phillips won the elite men's race at the UCI BMX Supercross event in Manchester on Saturday night.

Phillips, who won the world tile in Auckland in July last year, powered away from the rest of the field to take a win he ranked up with the best of his career.

The 25-year-old said: "I won the world championships in New Zealand but it feels more special to win in front of the guys that support me."

Phillips' win came hot on the heels of his victory in Friday night's time trial at the National Cycling Centre.

Great Britain academy rider Charlotte Green finished fourth in the elite women's race behind winner Caroline Buchanan of Australia.
