An Oldham Athletic footballer has denied committing a string of child sex offences against a 14-year-old girl.

Jack Tuohy, 19, pleaded not guilty at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court to five offences alleged to have been committed last October.

He faces two allegations of engaging in sexual activity with a child, two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of meeting with a child following sexual grooming.

Tuohy, of Lower Dingle, Oldham, will face a four-day trial at the same court on February 20 next year.

The midfielder was suspended by the Sky Bet League One club after he was charged with the offences.

He was granted bail by Judge Mark Savill on condition that he does not contact prosecution witnesses.
