Busy high street brought to a standstill after gunshots target car

Police are investigating after shots were fired at a car in Greater Manchester.

Armed officers were called to Market Street in Droylsden at around 5.35pm on Saturday following reports that the occupants of a white Citroen had shot at a red Volkswagen Golf.

When they arrived the golf abandoned was abandoned and has suffered damage consistent with a firearms incident.

Greater Manchester Police said no one was injured and an investigation is now underway.

“The motive for this incident at this stage remains unclear, but we are confident that is was an isolated incident with a specific target, not a random attack.

“We understand that residents will be understandably concerned by these events, but I would like to reassure members of the public that we have increased patrols in the area and are doing everything we can to find those responsible.
