More strikes expected in Merseyrail dispute as talks collapse

A bid to avert further industrial action by workers on Merseyrail has failed after talks ended without agreement

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union staged a 24-hour strike last week which caused huge disruption to services, made worse when drivers refused to cross picket lines.

The union is campaigning to keep a second, safety-critical member of staff on new trains due to come into service from 2020.
