Dogs banned on Morecambe beaches until September

Lancaster City Council have banned dogs on Morecambe beach between now and September.

The restriction came into force earlier this week to comply with the council's entry into the Seaside Awards.

The awards recognise beaches in England that achieve the highest standards of beach management.

The council also argues restricting dogs during the summer months also helps to maintain the water quality at Morecambe South and North beaches during their busiest period.

Anyone found breaching the ban could face a fixed penalty notice of £80.
