Police hunt driver after fatal hit and run in Liverpool

Police investigating an alleged hit and run incident in Liverpool have recovered a car they believe was involved.

A 24 year old man was hit by a car on The Strand near the Hilton hotel and the Albert Dock at around 11.40 last night.

As by-standers tried to give first aid the driver of the car sped off southbound away from the city centre.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital where he was was later pronounced dead.

Officers have identified who he is and have informed his next of kin.

Police have recovered a BMW 330 series car suspected of being the vehicle involved in a residential area close by and it is being forensically examined.
